Many books have the ability to change a person’s perspectives, but Six in particular have had an impact on me emotionally.

They are the Catcher in the Rye by K.D. Salingar, To kill a Mockingbird by harper lee, The Fult in Our Stars by John Green. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn,The Giver by Lois Lowry, my Sister’s Keeper.

These books manage to convincingly show that even though we might be going through tough times, there is something always worth fighting for, and hope for no matter how dark it seems at first glance.

If You are like me, and want to be emotionally smart, it is important to read and engage in activities that will challenge and inspire you. With that in mind, here are Five books that has helped me grow in that area:

  • Th Catcher in the Rye: written by J.D. Salinger.

This book has completely changed the way I look at the world. Holden Caulfield is a very real character that I can connect with on a very special level. He is a teenager that is very troubled and deosn’t understand how the world works.

However, through his experience, he learns a great deal about the world and himself. I was greatly enriched by the way the author portrayed Holden’s emotional state. I found it incredibly compelling and was truly drawn in by his Story.

  • To kill a Mockingbird: written by Harper Lee.

This one book has deeply affected the way that I view the law. It has taught me that the law can be used for good and for bad. I learned the importance of Justice and the role that the law plays in society.

Jackson is an excellent and empowering protagonist.i was able to relate to him on a very personal level, and learned a great deal from m his experience.

  • The Giver: written by Lois Lowry.

This book has made me more compassionate. I no longer view people in general as simply objects to be used and abused. I understand now that people have feelings and emotions just like l do.

Furthermore, I understand that people are capable of great love and kindness. I found the author’s writing to be extremely spellbinding and was completely absorbed by the story.

  • The Fault in Our Stars: John Greens.

John Green’s The Fault in Stars was my favourite book of 2014. It’s the story of a Cancer Patients, Hazel and Augustus, who fall in love and are forced to confront the harsh realities of their illness.

Green’s writing is poignant and beautiful, and I found myself unexpectedly emotional.

  • Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn was an intense read that left me feeling unsettled.is the Story of the kidnapping of a wife, her husband’s attempt to find her, and the Sinister people involved.

Flynn expertly weaves a complex plot and builds an intense atmosphere in her writing.

  • Now, my Sister’s Keeper.

My Sister’s keeper was the final book that truly changed my life. I read this book during my Senior year of high school andit completely rocked my world.

It tackles some difficult and uncomfortable topics. But does so in a way that is ultimately powerful. It is a love and family story, and the ways that they can be both wonderful and terrible. I found it is incredibly insightful and ultimately life-changing.

These six books have all helped me to become emotionally smarter. They have all taught me to be more introspective and to be able to handle difficult situations with grace and determination.

They have also taught me to value family, love, and friendship deeply, straightforwardness and delicacy when it comes to art and writing.

Thanks for reading, I hope that they do the same for you.
